My practice explores temporality and materiality through expanded painting and minimalist abstraction. I focus on the quiet value of everyday observations of sunlight and the architectural environment in inner-city Brisbane, translating these experiences into objects that register subtle shifts in light and perception. This interest in the inherent qualities of light is explored through materials such as glass, cast resin and plexiglass, experimenting with colour, transparency, luminosity, pattern and repetition. I am also drawn to the sensory experience of these interactions and their ability to evoke emotional resonance. Each work offers viewers a moment of visual decompression, perceptual openness and an invitation to reflect on how our experience of light moving is our experience of living.
